Originally designed by Cartmell and Rossman, renown, Arizona Mid Century Modern architects, this lovely Paradise Valley home was the personal residence of William H Cartmell for 30 years. Built of slump block, the original structure, with expansive beams and patinated copper cladding, was professionally expanded and remodeled in the mid 1990s. Some of William H Cartmell's designs include the ASU dorms - Manzanita Hall as well as Palo Verde East and West, Armstrong Hall - the original Tempe Main Campus College of Law building, and numerous banks and schools. Later, he came out of retirement and worked for many years as the staff architect for the Scottsdale School District. Dr Wendell Rossman was known for his joint work on the ASU buildings, as well as the St Maria Goretti Church in Scottsdale, NAU's Skydome, and many other school and commercial buildings throughout both Arizona and Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
